Copper and the Sun
For two months or longer, I was putting off writing a post revisiting something I'd already written about before. Pathogens/invaders causing diabetes, essentially. I had been focused on toxoplasmosis more than anything. Consuming a Standard American Diet (SAD) of processed sugar and carbohydrates can cause hyperglycemia, which, according to a recent 2026 release by the CDC, is happening to 2 in 5 Americans via pre-diabetes and 1 in 8 Americans via full-blown diabetes. Hyperglycemia wrecks your immune system and provides the perfect breeding ground for these bad characters like toxoplasmosis.
My mind also always goes to the disease that robs many of their retirement years and life savings - Alzheimer's. Alzheimer's has been known as Type 3 diabetes in medical literature for some time now. Alzheimer's is linked to toxoplasmosis as well as impaired insulin signaling in the brain. I have also been meaning for years to write in depth about impaired glucose signaling in the brain. It is linked to everything from PMS to Alzheimer's to violent criminal activity and more. This topic could easily be a book that everyone should read. Here is a brief overview I found online after doing a simple Google search:
- Impaired Impulse Control: The brain relies heavily on glucose for energy and requires proper insulin signaling to function optimally. Brain insulin resistance deprives the prefrontal cortex—the area responsible for rational thought and controlling impulses—of necessary fuel. This can lead to difficulties in regulating emotions and heightened impulsivity.
- Dopaminergic Dysfunction: Studies show that insulin resistance in the brain alters dopamine turnover and mitochondrial function. Disruptions in these reward and motivation pathways can manifest as behavioral disorders, anxiety, and extreme irritability.
- Forensic and Criminological Studies: Some forensic research, such as studies conducted in Scandinavia on habitual and violent offenders, has observed higher rates of reactive hypoglycemia, elevated insulin secretion, and altered glucose metabolism in subjects with antisocial personality disorder or histories of impulsive, violent offenses.
I was also going to discuss how these (very intelligent, unfortunately) toxoplasmosis characters have been proven via medical research to detonate human GABA neurological pathways, leading to horrific cognitive symptoms. Again, I'll reiterate that they love high glucose, subsequently impaired immunity environments or hosts. Interestingly, GABA has been researched in many institutions as a potential diabetes cure. GABA is what is needed to calm your brain. A brain with no GABA is sort of like a car endlessly going down a hill with no brakes. Low GABA states are ubiquitous. Another quick Google search:
- Anxiety Disorders: Low GABA in areas like the amygdala (the brain's fear center) limits your ability to calm stress responses, contributing directly to Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), panic disorders, and PTSD.
- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD): Studies consistently show lower brain GABA levels in depressed patients, particularly in the anterior cingulate cortex, which is linked to anhedonia (the inability to feel pleasure).
- Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): Reduced GABA function is common in ASD. It affects how the brain processes sensory input, sometimes leading to sensory overwhelm.
- Schizophrenia: Altered GABA signaling—especially in inhibitory interneurons—is believed to contribute to cognitive and perceptual symptoms.
- ADHD: Lower GABA levels impair inhibitory control, making it more difficult to regulate focus, attention, and impulses.
- Insomnia: Decreased GABA activity in the thalamus makes the brain hyper-aroused, severely disrupting sleep patterns.
The CDC stated in their 2026 Diabetes Report card that most Americans with pre-diabetes (more than 8 in 10) don't know they have it. Pre-diabetes pops up after insulin resistance has been around for a while, decades even. Then comes diabetes (if untreated). I've talked about this a lot on here. Not only does Quest have an insulin resistance blood test you don't need an Rx for, but LabCorp does also. Usually just under $100. Well, well worth it. Pre-teens, teenagers, college kids, 20-something's, really anyone not yet diabetic I would recommend get this test. Because diabetes is really coming down on the American adult (and even youth!) population unbeknownst to them.
For the past couple of months, I've been out in nature a great deal. I'm trying a few new teas, like Hawthorn Berry and Hibiscus for natural Vitamin C. I love my teas. I'll often have one outside or in the sunroom and just watch the wind blow through the trees.

I'm on a new path of research now that I think could be a true breakthrough regarding bioavailable copper deficiency and subsequent iron accumulation. Without copper, iron becomes trapped in cells and tissues. Beneficial, bioavailable copper is heavily chelated off of foods by the widely used pesticide Roundup or glyphosate. It depresses me how we have come to this place that we are leaching incredibly crucial anti-aging minerals off of our food with these chemicals. I wrote a post on here years ago about diamine oxidase (DAO), the enzyme responsible for regulating histamine in your body. Think DAO deficiency = exploding allergy epidemic. I was missing the key component. Another Google Search:
Diamine oxidase (DAO) is a copper-dependent enzyme primarily found in the gut that breaks down extracellular histamine. As a copper-containing amine oxidase (AOC1), it relies on copper as a cofactor for its structural integrity and functional activity, making adequate copper levels essential for breaking down dietary histamine and preventing histamine intolerance symptoms like headaches, hives, and gut issues.
Sitting in the sun, a song by Phillip LaRue called "Carry You" came into my head. I don't know why, I hadn't heard it in a while. I felt this strong sense of being held. A stark contrast to the last 5 years, which have felt to me like Stranger Things Season 2 when Eleven is using all of her might to close the gate to the Upside Down.
I think I'd pass
Can't think of anything I need...
Sometimes
All I need is the air that I breathe
And to love you
